Practical Work in Chemical Engineering
A key part of a Chemical Engineers day to day job is practical work. To prepare our students for this we provide an extensive range of laboratories to fine tune student’s laboratory skills. Practical work is a great way to put what you learn in lectures into practice, it helps you to apply theoretical content to real life situations. Laboratories also help to develop life skills including problem solving, organisation and teamwork.
Below you can find a 360 degree tour of one of our undergraduate teaching labs – the Dearden Lab. There are eight information videos explaining what each piece of apparatus is used for, as well as explaining some basic Chemical Engineering principles. You will get to use the majority of this equipment plus much more as part of your undergraduate studies at Birmingham.
